About Carol SLoan
Years ago, I achieved a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Radio and Television from Toronto Metropolitan University (formally Ryerson Polytechnic) and followed it up with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto, OISE. My three sons are growing up now and so is my husband; a television producer here in Canada. Our home is in Toronto, Ontario.
Once upon a time I worked in Canadian television as well but have worked as a secondary school teacher for the past zillion years. I have since jumped in head first to a life of reflection and writing. There have been a number of positions I have held at different times, all different versions of me. I have hitch hiked, but never will again. Can’t speak another language, but am not above trying. Love walking, but avoid it in bad weather.
My first novel was released in late 2023 - Cloak and Jagger - a middle grade fiction full of heart-pounding adventure. Jagger is my girl, and her story of triumph and kicking ass in a video game world lights me up! One reader called it “…thrilling!” That’s my fave!
This blog is part commentary, part humorous anecdotal rambling, and a whole lot of ‘lost-in-thought’ writing. I am passionate about my family, travel, education, finding happiness, asking questions, pop culture, shoes, the right haircut, dogs (or at least my dog) and listening to people. But my true passion is me. When I am happy, I am a good mother, wife, teacher, writer, friend and citizen. I want to fill my life with experiences, see everything, do everything and pass those stories on. I am very interested in and fascinated by people but am strangely drawn to being alone. Most of my time is spent seeking balance. It is the secret to happiness I am sure.
My writing is the thing I need and want to do right now. I hope you enjoy it! If you don’t, this is a strange domain name. I’m sure you won’t stumble on it again.
